Callie the Overly Smart Wonder Dog Needs a Home

Occasionally I will post special canines in need of a good home. These are never emergencies – all of these dogs are being well taken care of, but need the perfect forever home.

Callie is one of these special dogs.  She is sweet, smart, and absolutely AMAZING.  I got to hang out with her last week with her current human, Joanne.  Callie needs a family with a yard so she can play hard and then crash with her human. As you can see from the photos she only has a little porch to play on, and she has to be on a long leash because is no yard.  Things are a little cramped for Callie.  Joanne’s arthritis is getting worse, so taking her for long walks is no longer an option  :(.

Callie is EXTREMELY well behaved in the house (she’ll actually just lay right on your lap), and gets along really well all kinds of dogs and people.  One caveat – she does not do well with alpha female dogs.

This is Joanne’s bio for the fabulous Callie:

Hi !! My name is CALLIE !!
People who know me well call me “Callie Bean” ‘cuz i guess that’s my middle name !

I was born in February 2006. I think i’m kinda cute !!

My Mom got me when i was an 8 wk old puppy. She still has the Humane Society card with my baby info. It says i’m a Lab/Terrier mix. Mom says a couple of months after she got me, it was obvious i’m a Border Collie mix.

I would push at her ankles sometimes when she walked, i was pushing at ants in the driveway with my nose….stuff like that !!

I’ve had some formal training. I learned some hand signals.

Mom also says i really need more training & from someone who is very very strong & a real leader. I guess i’m hard-headed & sometimes i do what i want or what i don’t feel like doing !!

Mom didn’t know when she got me that i’m a
Border Collile mix, i have some minor behaviors everyone believes will go away if & when i live where i can RUN & burn off some stifled energy. I get very frustrated being inside so much. There’s no yard where i live !!

Right now i live in a townhouse !! Not exactly fun for a
busy girl like me.
Mom has arthritis, so she can’t run with me or take very long walks.
She didn’t know when she got me that i was Border Collie.

She knows a townhouse is not right place for me.

Mom says she loves me so much & knows it’s best for me to live somewhere else, so i can run & get to do all the things a dog like me should be able to do.

I LOVE PEOPLE…………ESPECIALLY MEN !!! I’m always happy to see everyone !!

Mom “socialized” me alot when i was a puppy. I went everywhere with her……..literally. I even went to a road right next to the big airport where i watched big jet planes come & go. They’re really LOUD & Mom says i did great around them.

I LOVE GOING TO THE LAKE !! I go crazy when i see the lake. I jump out the car door & run into the water !!

I LOVE RIDING IN THE CAR !! All you have to say is:
“go for a ride ?” & i go sit by the car door……..

I LOVE TO RUN !! Mom says i run so fast i’m almost a blur, whatever that means !! Sometimes i run real fast thru’ the house & i don’t even stop to make a turn, i just fly !!

Mom says i need to live where there’s a big fenced yard.
If no fenced yard, at least somewhere with LOTS of land to run around .

I will need to learn to “COME” when called if no fenced yard. I need a very STRONG LEADER to teach me to listen & do what i’m told all the time. I’m a fast learner !

PLEASE call my Mom & she can tell you all about me.
You can ask her questions about me, too !!

My Mom’s name: Joanne
Her cell phone: 952-200-7660

Hannah’s met me once. She played with me & took pictures of me. I like her & i think she likes me !!
She can tell you how cute i am !!

I love my Mom a whole lot; but i know she wants me to live where i can run & be a Border Collie.
Maybe you have a place like that ??
Let’s meet & i can charm you with my smile & show you how sweet i am & show you how fast i run !!

Thanks for reading about me & looking at my pictures !!

Love, CALLIE

I’m CALLIE’s Mom…….i want to thank Hannah again for her sweet & stunning photos of my adorable dog.
CALLIE is a very sweet, loving dog. I need to re-home her because she seriously needs a large, preferably fenced, yard.
I can no longer exercise her as much as she needs. Two walks a day is not enough, she needs to RUN around alot !
She also loves to lay around. She’s “grown up” being allowed on furniture & beds. She likes to lay on my deck & work on her tan !
She gets along well with other dogs. She’s primarily been around smaller dogs most of her life. She’s also lived with cats with no real problems. The cats mostly ran from her, not the other way around !!
If anyone has questions, please call me at 952-200-7660. Thanks…………Joanne

    Hi Mary:

I just saw your question, wondering if CALLIE has been adopted.

As Hannah noted, she has not been adopted yet.
I am still looking to re-home my wonderful dog.

PLEASE let me or Hannah know if you have any questions !!
I’d be happy to exchange emails with you or chat with you on the phone !!

    Thanks !! <3

Hi! Good luck re-homing this gem of a dog. She does look like a dynamo. I am not a candidate for another dog, and I know how smart and revved up border collies are! She’s such a cute and quirky looking girl. I will forward her pics to my Facebook pals and I know you will find the perfect home for her.

    Thanks Jan!

What an adorable dog….definitely part border collie. I am a mom of two border collies and have had a total of four border collies and they need to be exercised, both physically and mentally. It takes a special understanding to be a border collie owner….they are SO smart they need to be stimulated but that can be as simple has naming all their toys and always asking them to bring a certain one. Good luck finding a home for Callie, she’s a charmer.
