This is CharliRoo: adorable stuffed chicken destroying princess doggie.

This is CharliRoo.  She is visiting Bayfield from LA, and would like us all to know that she is the sweetest, kindest little puppy.  Unless you’re a stuffed chicken.  Or sand.  Those things are destroyed – with glee and gusto! Initially CharliRoo was unimpressed by the snow, and my boot, but then great dismantling began to occur . {If you want to keep up on Stonehouse photos everyday – check out my Facebook page, by the way – I am way more consistent there ...

Vizslas! Boing boing boing at Montrose Dog Beach

As I’ve mentioned in some past posts, once a month I am traveling to locations through out the US to do furkid sessions!  What was awesome about Kristi and John’s session in Chicago, though, was that Kristi was a bridesmaid in one of my all time favorite weddings up HERE – Laura & Kane’s wedding on Madeline Island.  It was so much fun to catch up and meet her crazy-fun vizslas at Montrose Dog Beach!  I had no idea dogs could move so fast . Also – stay tuned for some fun news about some teaching (both in person and online) that I’ll be doing in 2013!  So fun               Contact ME! |...

Sandy Doggie Session in the Windy City – Chicago!

This session was not only sandy because it was at Montrose Dog Beach in Chicago, but it was also sandy because of Hurricane Sandy!  She was blowing massive winds off of the lake, so the canines and I (and my camera) got a little sand filled.  My Canon and the dogs survived, and we had a blast .           Contact ME! | Subscribe to Stonehouse Photography by...

Stop Action with Panning – the Monday How-To

Stop action shots are not all about standing still and capturing a moment in time.  They are more of an amazing photographic dance with your body showing the moment and rhythm of your subject. (Yes I am a dork, but that’s how I best describe it ) The key to getting these stop action shots are not always fast shutter speeds – its coordinating the movement of your subject with your body movement.   You want to match your body movement to the speed of the subject, sweeping along and turning as it moves towards you or by you.  This is technically called “panning”. Here are some simple steps to building your “stop action...

Marcia and the Furkids

Marcia and the Furkids

I love photographing animals on the move.  Posed portraits kind of make me twitchy, so these three canines were perfect for me! We went to Marcia’s house, threw the ball around, swam in the water, and basically just had a great time with these rescued pups.  They are all obviously in love with their mommy! I am particularly in love with the tandem snout shot below. Their noses are fabulous . Please enjoy – and post some comments and questions!  I love to teach how to make great photographs.                   Contact ME! | Subscribe to Stonehouse Photography by...
